Arsenal have officially announced that academy graduate Khari Ranson has signed his first professional contract with the club, marking a significant milestone in a unique and inspiring journey that has seen him transition from midfielder to goalkeeper. The announcement was made through the club’s official channels and highlights Arsenal’s continued emphasis on developing versatile, homegrown talent.
Ranson, who joined the Gunners’ Hale End academy at under-10 level, has impressed coaches with his adaptability, commitment, and rapid development. Originally a midfielder, Ranson’s decision to switch to goalkeeping is a rare transformation that underlines both his football intelligence and his dedication to the team.
Reflecting on his journey, Ranson said: “I kind of played almost everywhere. I was a left winger, I was a midfielder, I was a centre-back. I can still sometimes play in the midfield as well, but maybe just not at this level.”

He continued: “I remember I was playing for my grassroots team and I volunteered to go in goal and naturally I just loved it, just jumping around, making saves, helping the team out as well. And also the element of using your feet, which obviously comes into play nowadays. It’s something I enjoyed from very young.”

In addition to Ranson, Arsenal also confirmed that 17-year-old forward Louis Zecevic-John has signed his first professional deal. The Serbia U17 international has been one of the standout performers for the club’s U18s during the 2024/25 season, contributing 14 goal involvements, seven goals and seven assists in 22 appearances.
A versatile and skillful attacker who can play both as a central striker and on the wing, Zecevic-John has earned comparisons to first-team star Bukayo Saka for his pace, flair, and creativity in the final third. His performances in the U18 Premier League, UEFA Youth League, and FA Youth Cup have garnered praise both internally at Arsenal and from international observers.
