Eagles 2025 Training Camp Position Preview: Special Teams

Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp is just days away, and the final position group to preview is special teams.

There is continuity at kicker and punter, but there will be a new long snapper in Philly for 2025.

Did You Know?

Jake Elliott's 16 points in Super Bowl LIX broke a 57-year Super Bowl kicking record. Elliott also set an Eagles postseason kicking benchmark with 43 points last season.

Returning Starters

Both kicker Jake Elliott and punter/holder Braden Mann are back in 2025.

Elliott enters his ninth season with the Eagles and is one of only two current Eagles (Lane Johnson) to be on both Super Bowl Championship teams. Elliott was 28-for-36 on field goals in the 2024 regular season and went 10-for-11 in the playoffs, including making all eight of his kicks (including PATs) in the Super Bowl.

Elliott has proved to be a clutch kicker throughout his career, going 26-for-27 in the playoffs with multiple game-winners in the regular season as well.

Mann is heading into his third season in Philadelphia after spending the first three years of his career with the New York Jets. He averaged 48.8 yards per punt last season, including landing 20 inside the 20-yard line, in addition to being Elliott's holder.

New to the Nest

The Eagles released long snapper Rick Lovato after nine seasons in Philadelphia and signed veteran Charley Hughlett this offseason.

Hughlett will join Elliott and Mann in the kicking operation. He brings 152 games of experience. Hughlett bounced between a handful of teams before landing with the Cleveland Browns, where he spent the last 10 years of his career.

Hughlett's season ended after five games last year due to a rib injury, but he said earlier in the offseason that he has fully recovered.

"Being in one place for so long, you obviously fall in love with the people there and the community. Obviously tough to leave, but as the offseason progressed, you kind of had a feeling and kind of started to see the writing on the wall of what was going on. Not a total shocker to let go in the end there, but obviously extremely excited to be here." – Charley Hughlett on leaving Cleveland after 10 years and joining the Eagles
