Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are gearing up to make an offer for Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, amidst interest from rivals Liverpool.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Arsenal are keen on acquiring the services of Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, and they are all set to test the waters with an initial offer worth €80 million. The Gunners are looking to steal a march on Liverpool, who also have him on their wishlist.
Rodrygo has only gone from strength to strength since joining Los Blancos from Santos back in 2019. While he was a key figure in their team under Carlo Ancelotti, a lot has changed following the arrival of Xabi Alonso. The 24-year-old winger started all their Club World Cup games on the bench, and he is concerned about his role at the club.
With Madrid not able to assure him a guaranteed starting spot next season, the Brazilian international has started exploring his options. He seems keen on making a move away. While he still has three years left on his deal, the team in white are ready to cash in on him and they have set an asking price of €100 million.
The price tag is certainly on the higher side, and interested clubs are unlikely to go near that figure. However, Rodrygo could still be on the move as some of the biggest clubs in Europe are after his signature.
Liverpool remain interested in Rodrygo
Arsenal and Liverpool are two top clubs that have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old in recent weeks. While the Reds’ priority at this stage is to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, they could also splash the cash to sign the Real Madrid star.
With Luis Diaz linked with a move away from the club, the Brazilian winger could be an ideal replacement. He could even be considered an upgrade on the Colombian international. Despite having spent a fortune this summer, Liverpool could still pull off some massive moves in the coming weeks.
Arsenal ready to table an offer for Rodrygo
While the Merseyside club retain interest in him, they haven’t made a move yet. Meanwhile, rivals Arsenal are looking to steal a march on them. The Gunners are keen on reinforcing the left flank this summer, and Rodrygo is quite high on their wishlist.
Andrea Berta has been working on a potential deal for some time, and they are now ready to make an opening offer worth €80 million. This could certainly give the North London club a head start on other clubs. However, it is unlikely to seal the deal as they are still a long way off from Los Blancos’ asking price.
