Leeds United extended their unbeaten run at Elland Road last night as they held Newcastle United to a 0-0 draw.
It was the club's final game before the summer transfer window closes tomorrow at 7pm. With less than 48 hours remaining for Leeds to finalise any further deals, Daniel Farke's side are still active in the market.
The Whites boss has already spent more than £100m this summer to strengthen his squad for the Premier League. Lukas Nmecha was the first arrival on a free transfer, while James Justin became the most recent addition - joining from Leicester City for £8.3m.
Having collected four points from their opening three games, Farke's focus now turns to the closing stages of the window. With several players linked to Elland Road, Leeds Live has rounded up the latest headlines;
Illan Meslier tipped for return
Illan Meslier has been strongly linked with a transfer away from Leeds this summer after losing his No.1 spot last season following a string of errors.
According to Ouest France, Lorient have now placed the 25-year-old on their goalkeeper shortlist as they look to secure a new shot-stopper before the deadline. The list also includes Yvon Mvogo and an unnamed (third) option.
Leeds signed Meslier from Lorient in 2020 for £5m.
While the Ligue 1 club are fully aware of his desire to relaunch his career, they believe a deal would be difficult to secure. Mvogo, currently a free agent, is considered the most straightforward option.
Leeds eye Crystal Palace target
Leeds are, reportedly, in talks with Getafe over midfielder Christantus Uche. The 22-year-old is also a target for Crystal Palace, meaning Farke's side face competition from within the Premier League.
Reporter David Palacio explained, as per The Leeds Press: "The only option is to go to the Premier League, and there are two teams pushing. They are Leeds United, who contacted Getafe to ask for the price of Christantus Uche at the end of the season.
"Crystal Palace has arrived in the last few hours.
"Uche cost €500k. If it comes out for a figure of around €18m (£15.5m), that would save Getafe - and also allow them to make the seven registrations missing."
