West Ham United have endured a dismal summer both on and off the pitch.

West Ham sit bottom of the Premier League after heavy defeats to Sunderland and Chelsea, and are out of the Carabao Cup after defeat away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Graham Potter is under huge pressure to keep his job at the London Stadium, although both David Sullivan and Karren Brady have backed Potter publicly.

Sullivan has admitted that West Ham are being hamstrung by their previous transfer failings and have now moved to amend one of their errors.

Emerson Palmieri set to join Marseille

Emerson Palmieri is finally set to leave West Ham United this summer.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Emerson signed for West Ham in the summer of 2022 from Chelsea under David Moyes, but has proved to be a disappointment since arriving in East London, as the Hammers have begun sliding down the table in recent seasons.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Marseille are set to complete a deal for the Italian for a total package of £865,600, and that he has been given permission by the Hammers to travel for a medical.

Emerson’s gametime has been limited at the start of the season after West Ham signed El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague, allowing the Italian to end his spell in England.

More exits expected at West Ham before deadline

West Ham’s torrid start to the season has signalled that more needs to be done in the transfer market before the window shuts on Monday.

Emerson was part of the deadwood that was never destined to work out at the London Stadium, having previously flopped at Chelsea, and more mistakes made under Moyes still need to be remedied.

West Ham’s current outgoings include:

Mohammed Kudus

Edson Alvarez (loan)

Danny Ings

Vladimir Coufal

Aaron Cresswell

Kaelan Casey (loan)

Kurt Zouma

Michail Antonio

Lukasz Fabianski

Lucas Paqueta is subject to interest from Aston Villa, while Nayef Aguerd is pushing to end his miserable spell at West Ham, with Sunderland interested.

However, West Ham cannot afford to leave themselves with a threadbare squad, so incomings are also required with a certain level of quality to keep the Hammers up.
