Newcastle United want to sign another striker even after the club-record addition of Nick Woltemade, although it may not be Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Newcastle United are looking to sign a second striker, amid major speculation over Alexander Isak’s future.
Isak still wants to leave Newcastle for Liverpool but remains on the club’s books.
Woltemade is effectively Callum Wilson’s replacement. Obviously, that may change, but Newcastle currently have as many strikers as they did last season. Selling Isak without signing another one would leave them lighter than they were during the 2024/25 campaign.
Clearly, it’s not impossible that Isak leaves without a replacement coming. Still, the club are in pursuit of further additions.
Indeed, Newcastle have made two bids for Strand Larsen – both of which have been rejected by Wolves.
With very little time left in the window, the Molineux club don’t look like selling.

Wolves don’t want to sell Jorgen Strand Larsen
Newcastle haven’t given up on Strand Larsen yet, though it is now looking increasingly unlikely to happen.

While the 25-year-old missed their defeat to Everton on Saturday with a minor injury, Wolves manager Vitor Pereira once again sounded confident about keeping the striker.
Asked whether Strand Larsen would still be a Wolves player by the end of the transfer window, Pereira said: “Of course, of course, of course.”
Eddie Howe confirms Newcastle United transfer stance
Speaking after Newcastle drew 0-0 with Leeds on Saturday, Eddie Howe made an interesting comment.
Howe confirmed Newcastle still want to sign another player during what remains of the summer transfer window.
The Newcastle United manager said: “We are still looking to actively recruit.
“I’d love to [sign] one more player, just to get the full strength I think we need.”
While he did not specify that Newcastle were looking for a new striker, it is widely thought that is the area in which the club are trying to strengthen.
It remains to be seen if Newcastle return with a third bid for Strand Larsen, with the club also linked with a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa.
