Tottenham Hotspur could be a contender to make a stunning deadline day move for West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
Lilywhite Rose podcast owner John Wenham has suggested Spurs might be in the mix for Paqueta in the closing stages of the transfer window. Daniel Levy's North London giants are still conducting business, having signed Dutch attacker Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on Friday.
Frank's men have made a fine start to the season and Levy will want to ensure the squad is strong enough to compete domestically and in the Champions League. A move for a new midfielder didn't seem a priority, but Paqueta's potential availability could put the Lilywhites on alert.

Lucas Paqueta in action for West Ham United
GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano already confirmed that discussions had taken place at Spurs regarding a potential move for Paqueta. He is open to leaving the London Stadium after enduring a difficult past year due to an investigation over allegedly breaching betting rules for which he was found not guilty.
The 28-year-old has two years left on his contract but the Hammers are undergoing a significant overhaul. His former teammate Mohammed Kudus has already swapped East London for North London and Paqueta may be next.
Wenham gave his thoughts on talk of a possible Paqueta move to Spurs (via Tottenham News): "I just wonder if Paqueta pops up on deadline day as someone that might suddenly become available, and I think he’d been extremely good signing as well. So he’s one to keep an eye on, I think, as the window closes either for Tottenham or somebody else, but I think he’s a good signing."
GIVEMESPORT sources understand that the Irons have set an asking price of £60m for the former Lyon man. He could be enticed to make the switch given he'd stay in the English capital but be playing Champions League football under Frank who has proven a fine apppointment as Ange Postecoglou's replacement.
Paqueta has been at the London Stadium since the summer of 2022 and was part of the side that won the Europa Conference League a year later. He appeared 33 times in the league last season, posting four goals. Should he make the move, it could come after Yves Bissouma exits as the Malian midfielder has reportedly "agreed personal terms" ahead of a potential switch to Turkish side Galatasaray.
