They say never fall in love with loan signings. Alas, Everton fans have already fell hook, line and sinker for Jack Grealish.

It was always going to be a summer of huge incomings at Hill Dickinson Stadium given the number of players departing the squad and given the improved financial firepower Everton can now enjoy under new owners The Friedkin Group.

And so it has proved with eight signings through the door with the possibility of more to come before the transfer window closes at 7pm on Monday (September 1).

But of those eight new signings, it was the one that did not arrive permanently, instead joining on a season-long loan, that inevitably attracted the biggest interest.

But it's safe to say that, just four games into his Blues career, Grealish is more than living up to the hype.

No-one should be surprised. This is a man who lit up Villa Park at his beloved Aston Villa before making a British transfer record £100m move to Manchester City, where he played a crucial role in helping them win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble in 2023.

The two seasons that followed proved more of a struggle but if Grealish came to Everton with a point to prove, then the mercurial midfielder is certainly doing that.

He provided two assists on his full debut as the Blues kick-started life at their magnificent new stadium with a 2-0 triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

And then the England international, who has been left out of Thomas Tuchel's latest squad, repeated the trick as David Moyes' upwardly mobile men won 3-2 at Wolves yesterday (Saturday).

In doing so, according to OptaJoe, Grealish became the first ever Everton player to assist 2+ goals in consecutive Premier League appearances for the club.

The 29-year-old had supporters and his manager Moyes purring after the game and he clearly impressed one of his Man City team-mates, too.

During the match at Molineux, Norway superstar Erling Haaland took to social media to post about Grealish, who he has struck up a great friendship with.

Referencing City great Kevin de Bruyne, who also left the Etihad this summer after creating 119 Premier League goals, Haaland said on his Snapchat account: "Jack De Bruyne does it again for Everton."

The Blues will return to action after the international break when they host Grealish's boyhood club Aston Villa on Saturday, September 13.

After watching his loan signing inspire his side to victory over Wolves, Moyes said: "It's nothing to do with me, let me tell you, it's all to do with Jack and his own mentality to be better… there's a wee bit to prove, I’m sure. I think we all have, I think in life you've always got to keep something you have to strive to do and I think Jack wants to show that he's a good player.

"I think he's showing it at the moment, I think some of his football has been really good.

"The biggest compliment I can probably give him is he's better than I thought he was. He's so good."
