Manchester United have reportedly made a fresh approach for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
The Red Devils are bidding to bring a new stopper to Old Trafford before Monday's transfer deadline, with Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana both struggling in the early stages of the 2025-26 campaign.
Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens is allegedly Man United's leading target, with the 20-time English champions working to sign the Belgian before the summer transfer window closes for business.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, fresh talks have also been held over Martinez.
Romano claims that Man United 'want to be ready' if a deal for Lammens does not go through, with the club potentially bringing in Martinez before the end of the transfer market.
Ruben Amorim's side have allegedly held talks with both Villa and Martinez's representatives, and the 32-year-old is said to be open to a move to Manchester before the deadline.

Man United 'hold fresh talks' over Martinez move
Martinez has a contract at Villa Park until June 2029, but he had been expected to leave Villa this summer, with clubs from the Saudi Pro League said to be keen on the World Cup winner.
Man United were also heavily linked with a move earlier in the transfer window, but the club then cooled their interest.
Martinez missed Villa's opening match of their 2025-26 Premier League campaign against Newcastle United through suspension, but he was back between the sticks against Brentford last weekend.
The Argentine would become Man United's immediate number one goalkeeper if he arrived at Old Trafford, but Lammens would be expected to battle for the gloves due to his inexperience.

Should Man United sign Martinez or Lammens?
On the one hand, Martinez is a World Cup-winning goalkeeper with 197 Premier League appearances to his name.
Lammens, meanwhile, is unproven in a top European league, and he has only made 64 appearances for Antwerp, so his signing would be somewhat of a risk considering Man United's issues in that area.
Martinez is almost a decade older than Lammens, so he is not a long-term option, and with Man United looking to the future, it is more likely that the latter will arrive at Old Trafford.
In an ideal world, the 20-time English champions would sign Lammens to be Martinez's number two while he learns the ropes, with Onana and Bayindir then moving on, but it is too late in the window for all of those pieces to fall into place.
