'Frankly ridiculous’: Man Utd wonderkid sustains excellent loan form, should be drafted into first team soon

Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek is making waves at Bristol City, continuing to deliver standout performances between the sticks.

The towering Czech goalkeeper made an extraordinary save on Saturday when Bristol City hosted Hull City in the Championship.

Right-back Cody Drameh whipped in a pinpoint cross for Oli McBurnie, who cleverly pulled away from his marker to meet it.

McBurnie directed a powerful header at the ground which looked destined to hit the back of the net.

However, Vitek responded with a stunning one-handed stop, flinging himself to his right to claw the ball away.

It was the kind of world-class save that would make even the best shot-stoppers on the planet nod in admiration.

Bristol City also applauded Vitek’s save on X with ‘frankly ridiculous‘ remark.

Vitek made seven saves in 90 minutes, with five of them coming from shots inside the box.

He also displayed his alertness by stepping out as a sweeper three times, while launching five accurate throws.

The next step in his development is to become more accurate with his ball distribution as he completed only 10 out of 22 attempted passes.

The 21-year-old has made an instant impression at his new club, winning the Man of the Match award in the 0-0 stalemate with Charlton earlier this month.

Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir have made high-profile blunders over the last two seasons.

The same story has carried into the 2025-26 season.

Onana was guilty of two costly mistakes against Grimsby, while Bayindir’s fumble handed Burnley their second equaliser yesterday.

Vitek seems a definite upgrade over the duo but the club know his development is best served by gaining experience in the Championship rather than rushing him back too right now.
