Manchester United player pictured at airport ahead of exit – Deal financially more favourable for Red Devils, details…

Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund is now edging closer towards completing a move to Napoli.

Earlier this week, claims from Italy reported the Red Devils have agreed terms with the Serie A winners for €5m loan fee plus €40m obligation to buy under certain conditions. This was linked to his performances and Napoli qualifying for the Champions League.

Manchester United wanted the obligation linked only to the latter, and Napoli have already accepted it.

The 22-year-old has already travelled to Italy on Saturday evening to carry out formalities to join the Naples club. Gianluca Di Marzio took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to post a video of Højlund arriving in Italy.

On his website, Gianluca Di Marzio says the Denmark international travelled in a private jet, after receiving a green light from Manchester United. He landed at Rome’s Ciampino Airport yesterday and will undergo medical tests with Napoli on Sunday.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the striker’s medical examinations are scheduled at 9am today at Villa Stuart in Rome.

Journalist Ciro Venerato reports the details of the agreement between Manchester United and Napoli, relayed by Napoli Magazine. The player only wanted Antonio Conte’s side and didn’t entertain RB Leipzig’s late approach.

Earlier reports explained Manchester United will earn €45m, but the final terms are more favourable to the Red Devils.

“Negotiations between Napoli, Manchester United, and Højlund? Well, more than a transfer deal, it was a real controversy, especially in the last 48 hours,” he said.

“Unexpectedly, Leipzig also got involved, but ultimately settled on another player, Harder, the very one AC Milan also wanted, but who was then sent back to Sporting.”

“The difference in this negotiation was primarily the player’s will, that of his father, and that of his agents. Despite Leipzig offering more money and better terms than Napoli, Højlund clearly stated: ‘I want Napoli’.”

“In the end, thanks in part to the direct intervention of Antonio Conte, who was in training camp with the team and wanted to personally verify the outcome of the deal, the deal was finalised.”

“As we anticipated in the preview, Højlund has landed in the capital: he’ll undergo medical tomorrow morning.”

“Details of the deal: Napoli will pay €6m immediately for the loan, with an obligation to buy set at €44m, conditional on qualification for the Champions League [meaning at least fourth place].”

“There’s also a 5% resale clause, earmarked for Manchester United. There’s also a release clause, effective from 2027, set at €85m. Højlund signed a five-year contract worth €5m net per season, €1m more than he earned in England, with an option for a sixth year. A major signing for Napoli.”

In short, Manchester United will get €5m more and earn more if Napoli were to sell him in the future.
