PSV Eindhoven have officially rejected a €27m bid from Brentford for midfielder Joey Veerman, but the Bees are expected to return with a second bid
That’s [according to Eindhovens Dagblad](https://www.ed.nl/psv/psv-wijst-eerste-bod-op-veerman-af-brentford-beraadt-zich~af662ca5/), who report that Brentford’s offer was worth €27m plus €3m to take it to €30m in total.
According to their information, PSV are not interested in selling the midfielder at this time, considering him vital to their plans. He extended his deal at the club until 2028 last season.
The focus is now on whether Brentford return with a second bid. That’s currently unknow but is expected to happen at some point. Indeed, ED report that matters could develop quickly, particularly as Veerman is eager to make the move to the Premier League.
PSV don’t want to sell because it would be difficult to replace him at this late point in the summer transfer window.
They have their eye on Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer but any deal for him would be a major undertaking and an expensive one at this point and it seems they’d prefer not to have to do it.
The newspaper also states that Veerman wouldn’t be happy if a move to Brentford falls through, though, as he’s made it clear he wants to move abroad for the last year.
[De Telegraaf back this up](https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/voetbal/joey-veerman-akkoord-met-brentford-maar-psv-wil-middenvelder-niet-verkopen/87063217.html), reporting that PSV have rejected a bid worth up to €30m from Brentford for their midfielder. They say the the Dutch side are refusing to negotiate further at this point, despite Veerman having an agreement in place already with Brentford.
