Everton continued their bright start to the season with a 3-2 victory away at Wolves on Saturday.

The Toffees made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League with an exciting attacking performance at Molineux, which will have provided fans with plenty of encouragement.

Jack Grealish continued his excellent start at Everton with another two assists, as he laid on goals for Beto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, either side of Iliman Ndiaye’s second strike of the season.

It was an impressive display from David Moyes’ men, and Match of the Day’s pundits certainly sat up and took notice.

Danny Murphy praises Everton frontline

Grealish is rightly taking plenty of plaudits at Everton at the moment, but Moyes appears to be onto something good with the front four that he started with in the Black Country.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The quartet of Grealish, Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall and Beto were all excellent, and showed plenty of signs to suggest that they could develop into a really effective attacking unit.

Saturday’s victory was just the second time that the Toffees have struck three or more goals in their last 20 competitive outings, and it showcased what could come in the final third as the season progresses.

The Merseysiders have rightly received plenty of praise for their performance, not least on Saturday’s edition of Match of the Day, where even former Liverpool hero Danny Murphy made a begrudging admission.

Presenter Mark Chapman pointed out the irony for Murphy ahead of his analysis of the Toffees’ performance, saying: “You’ve praised Manchester United and now you’re going to praise Everton.”

Murphy acknowledged his colleague’s joke by adding: “This night’s getting worse. I usually enjoy working with you as well!

“I have to be honest, I thoroughly enjoyed watching that forward line,” the 48-year-old continued.

“They were creative and brave on the ball and caused Wolves all sorts of problems.

“The Evertonians must be delighted to see it.”

Everton’s attack will take them to the next level

Moyes and Everton look to have completed some shrewd business in the transfer market this summer, and they have certainly addressed their weakness from last year.

The Toffees lacked creativity in the final third for large parts of the season, and the additional quality that they have signed this summer could make all the difference for them this term.

Only Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea conceded fewer goals than Everton in the Premier League last season, and they are likely to have a similarly tight defence this time around, despite conceding two on Saturday.

If Moyes’ side can combine stability at the back with a sustained threat in the attacking half, then a top-half finish could be the bare minimum for their aspirations in 2025/26.
