Derby County are one of several clubs showing late interest in Sunderland winger Patrick Roberts, according to reporter Alan Nixon.

This season hasn’t started as hoped for the Rams, but with business to be done heading into deadline day and some key players out injured, it is hoped they can make strides forward in the coming weeks.

The 28-year-old wide playmaker has dropped down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light following a host of new additions on Wearside, and Roberts may see a late exit sanctioned as a result.
However, DCFC may well have the edge in the race for his signature. Multiple other Championship clubs are keen, but they favour a loan deal for Roberts, while the Rams are eyeing a permanent deal, which could be favoured by Sunderland.
A three-year contract would be on offer for Roberts at Pride Park.
