Newcastle United signing another striker would impact Alexander Isak and Liverpool.
Newcastle have signed 6ft 6in German striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for a club-record £69million but are open to recruiting another striker in light of the Alexander Isak situation.
Isak hasn’t featured for the Magpies since May, having refused to play this summer in an attempt to force through a move to Premier League champions Liverpool.
Arne Slot’s side saw a £110m bid rejected for Isak on August 1 but are yet to return with an improved bid that would test United’s resolve. Sources on Merseyside claim the Reds will only return to the table if given encouragement.
What is likely to unlock the door is Newcastle signing a second striker, and they retain interest in Strand Larsen and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
Wolves boss confident Jorgen Strand Larsen will stay
Prior to agreeing a fee for Woltemade, Newcastle had a £40m bid rejected for Wissa and offers of £50m and £55m turned down for Strand Larsen.
Neither player were available for their respective club on Saturday. Wissa, like Isak, hasn’t played for Brentford this season, while Strand Larsen had appeared in the opening three matches before missing the defeat at home to Everton.
His absence only fuelled speculation surrounding a potential late move but Wolves boss Pereira believes the Norwegian will stay, reiterating that he missed the game because of an Achilles issue.

When asked if he expects the 25-year-old to be a Wolves player after the window closes, Pereira said: "Of course, of course Jorgen, as I told before, he got a kick in the Achilles tendon in the game against Bournemouth. He tried to help us in the last game but the level of inflammation increased.
"It means he had an MRI and he has something there, not serious, but it's a big risk if he plays today."
Newcastle United still active in summer transfer window
Eddie Howe says would “love” for Newcastle to sign one more player before tomorrow’s 7pm transfer deadline, but was unable to reveal if that would be dependent on what happens with Isak. The head coach also refused to be drawn on what position he would like to see strengthened.
“Yeah, I don't know what that player looks like, you're not going to get a position out of me,” Howe said. “But I'd love to add one more, just to give us the strength and depth that I think we need.”
Looking ahead to the remaining 48 hours of the summer transfer window, Howe said: “I will be on my phone probably 24/7.
“The reality is when you're in my position, you're not actually communicating with clubs, players, you're just finding out what's going on. So, you're sort of a secondary person in it, you're not doing it yourself. So, I rely on other people and situations to try and get more for the squad.
“I'd love to do one more player, just to get the full strength that I think we need.”
