Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in negotiating a deal for a midfielder with 111 matches of Premier League experience.
Vitor Pereira's side have started the new campaign with three consecutive defeats in the top flight, losing to Manchester City, Bournemouth and Everton respectively.
While new signings have been made by the West Midlands outfit, they have acquired five players for the first team that have never played a single minute of Premier League football.
A sixth is due to arrive in the form of Genk forward Tolu Arokodare, who may ultimately become a replacement for Jorgen Strand Larsen if Wolves weaken their stance over the Norway international's availability.
As such, any criticism of the new Wolves recruitment team feels justified, and they now have just two English players - backup goalkeepers Sam Johnstone and Dan Bentley - and Irishman Matt Doherty in their senior ranks.

Wolves homegrown issues to be addressed?
That creates the potential for issues with the homegrown registration rules, it clear that another domestic-based player could bring much-needed nous to the squad.
According to Sky Sports News, Wolves have held discussions over the potential signing of former Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill.
His six-year stint at Turf Moor recently came to an end, the 29-year-old choosing to take on a new challenge on the back of starring in Burnley's promotion campaign in 2024-25.
Brownhill contributed 18 goals and six assists from 42 games, while he has six strikes and six assists from his 111 appearances in the Premier League across his career.
He has been assessing his options over the summer with the aforementioned report also claiming that Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab have presented him with a lucrative offer.
Therefore, Brownhill essentially needs to decide whether he wants to remain in the Premier League or take an opportunity abroad, aware that it may prove to be the final major contract of his career while he is seemingly at his peak.

Brownhill signing imperative for Wolves
While there will be question marks over Brownhill's record in the Premier League, the vast majority of Wolves fans would welcome his signing.
Wolves have taken too many risks in the transfer market this summer when they have lost a number of star players, and it is already showing.
Their next four fixtures are Newcastle United (away), Leeds United (home), Tottenham Hotspur (away), and Brighton & Hove Albion (home), all important matches and ones that could set the tone for the rest of the season.
Brownhill could bring Wolves' engine room with a boost, Andre and Jean-Ricner Bellegrade both failing to impress during the early weeks of the season and Joao Gomes being left exposed.
