Villa closing in on stunning Paqueta move: Latest transfer news and rumours today

Aston Villa are reportedly nearing a deal for West Ham United attacker Lucas Paqueta.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that a £47m package has been agreed between the two clubs, with the Brazil international set to spend the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Villa Park ahead of a permanent switch next summer.

Paqueta has allegedly already accepted personal terms with Unai Emery's side, with the move therefore expected to be confirmed before Monday evening's transfer deadline.

The 28-year-old made the move to West Ham from Lyon in the summer of 2022, and he has represented the Hammers on 123 occasions in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and registering 14 assists in the process.

Paqueta has made a strong start to this season, scoring twice in three appearances for Graham Potter's side, including a thunderbolt against Chelsea in the Premier League in gameweek two.

Manchester City are long-term admirers of the South American, but the Citizens are not expected to attempt a late hijack, with Paqueta therefore in line for a switch to Villa Park.

Lukebakio has a contract at Estadio Ramon until June 2028, but it is understood that he is the subject of interest from a number of clubs in the latter stages of the transfer window.

Romano claims that Stuttgart are in the mix, but there is also interest from two unnamed Premier League teams, with the forward potentially earning a lucrative switch to England's top flight.

The Belgium international has already scored once in two La Liga appearances for Sevilla last season.

Meanwhile, an impressive 2024-25 campaign saw him manage 11 La Liga goals for a Sevilla side that came close to being relegated from the top flight of Spanish football.

However, Romano claims that a £36m deal to take him to Fulham has now been agreed.
