Newcastle United remain front and centre of the summer's biggest transfer saga with a hectic deadline day now less than 24 hours away.
Eddie Howe's squad picked up a point on the road last night with a 0-0 draw against Leeds United, leaving them winless in their opening three Premier League games.
Club-record signing Nick Woltemade was in the stands at Elland Road. Their £69m striker will be hoping to boost Newcastle's goal tally, with the Magpies failing to score in two of their first three matches.
It may not be the only record signing Newcastle are part of this summer ,with Alexander Isak's future still hanging in the balance. With rumours continuing to spiral, Chronicle Live has rounded up the latest headlines surrounding Howe's side;
Liverpool in for Marc Guehi
Liverpool have made an official bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. Arne Slot's side have tabled an offer worth £35m with no add-ons.
The move comes amid reports that the Premier League champions remain confident of signing both Guehi and Isak before the window closes.
Despite Newcastle breaking their transfer record for Woltemade, the club's stance remains that Isak can still part of their first-team plans. It is not yet clear whether Liverpool will lodge the proposed £130m bid for the Sweden striker - although several outlets claim they are preparing another blockbuster approach.
Newcastle, of course, made several attempts to sign Guehi from Palace last season.
Kobbie Mainoo link emerges
Newcastle are also said to be keeping tabs on Kobbie Mainoo - after the England midfielder expressed his desire to leave Manchester United this summer.
Transfer insider Graeme Bailey told Geordie Boot Boys: "Newcastle are one of the teams being kept informed about Kobbie Mainoo's situation - if he was available then they would have an interest.
"Newcastle would ideally like to sign another midfielder, they never replaced Sean Longstaff so they would like one but it looks difficult. Mainoo's situation remains that Man Utd don't want to let him go."
