Morgan Rogers’ future has been one of the major talking points at Aston Villa this summer.

The 23-year-old notched 18 Premier League goal contributions during a hugely impressive campaign last term, and is now a genuine England international.

Villa have been fending off interest in Rogers since the start of the transfer window, with virtually all of the country’s top clubs keen on signing him at some stage.

Unai Emery and Co. will be desperate to keep their star man beyond the end of the window, but they look set to face an agonising wait until the Monday night deadline.

Aston Villa to sell Amadou Onana not Morgan Rogers

Villa have received interest in Amadou Onana from Saudi Arabian clubs recently, and that could provide them with the perfect way to continue to eat into their PSR struggles.

Monchi has found it difficult to strengthen the squad this summer, as a result of the financial situation, and as such, potential sales have been a big point of discussion.

Jacob Ramsey was the most recent departure from B6, but Rogers’ high market value means he is another name who has been constantly linked with a move away.

Villa have spent just £32million during the window, according to Transfermarkt

However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes that a big-money offer for Onana from the Middle East could hand Emery’s side the solution that they need on Rogers.

“Villa certainly wouldn’t sell both Onana and Rogers,” King said.

“If you get an offer for Onana from Saudi Arabia, which is way over any offer that you’d get from anywhere else, then it could be smart for them to square their books.

“If they could square the books up with Onana, that could be a very good solution. Because I don’t think any Premier League team would be looking to sell Rogers.”

Villa have to keep Rogers

Rogers’ future at Villa looks likely to come under speculation right until the 7pm BST deadline on Monday, with Tottenham the latest club to show an interest.

However, the forward is simply too important for the second city outfit to lose, especially at this stage of the window.

Emery’s men have looked short of creativity so far this season, so it would make little sense for them to even entertain a sale of Rogers, who is their biggest creative threat by far.

When you then factor in that the Villans would potentially not even have time to spend the money that his exit would provide, it seems a no-brainer for them to swat away any late approaches.
