'I think': David Moyes gives honest response when asked where Everton can finish this season

Everton manager David Moyes has shared what the targets are this season after consecutive wins against Brighton and Wolves.

Everton defeated Wolves 3-2 at Molineux on Saturday afternoon, with goals from Beto, Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Jack Grealish got most of the headlines and rightly so after his sensational performance, but Danny Murphy was blown away by Dewsbury-Hall, in particular.

The £28m arrival from Chelsea scored a terrific half-volley in the second half and turned provider for Beto for the first goal.

Victory moves the Toffees up to fifth place in the Premier League, and many are beginning to wonder where they can finish this season.

David Moyes was asked that question after the game, and his response was very interesting.

However, there is a very different feel about them this year, and when asked what the target is after the Wolves win, Moyes gave an honest response.

“I think a club like Everton, we always want to be challenging for Europe,” the Scotsman said.

“Don’t know if we are good enough to do that, we haven’t been over recent years, but there is no point in me coming on here and saying we want to avoid relegation.”

Moyes has said he wants to replicate what he did at West Ham for Everton, so there is plenty to be excited about on Merseyside.

Steph Houghton says there is a ‘different energy’ about Everton

Speaking on BBC Match of the Day, former Lioness star Steph Houghton explained what’s different about Everton this season.

“There definitely seems to be a lot of different energy,” Houghton said.

“I think a new stadium, a little bit of put that last season behind them, but also the type of players that they’ve brought to the club… Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish they’ve signed, Tyler Dibling in the week, they’re exciting players.

"As an Everton fan I think you should be so excited!" 😁

“As an Evertonian, as an Everton fan, you should be so excited about how the team is going to play. I think as well David Moyes has got a little bit more confidence in his team because he has those players that are technically gifted but also full of energy and running.”
