Nottingham Forest have continued to work on getting their ducks in a row ahead of transfer deadline day.
The Reds went into the final days of the window with a right-back, a left-back and a goalkeeper on their shopping list. Nicolo Savona arrived from Juventus on Saturday to fill the right-back spot, and the club are closing in on Botafogo duo Cuiabano and John Victor to fill the remaining gaps.
Savona has penned a five-year deal to become the club’s ninth arrival of the summer transfer window. Predominantly a right-back, he can also operate as a centre-back or a left-back.
“I am very excited to be here. It is a new experience for me as a person and a player. It is such a historic club, and the move is a dream come true,” he said after putting pen to paper. “I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at the City Ground, and I will give my all for the shirt.”
Chief football officer Ross Wilson said: “Nicolo gained great experience with Juventus last season, and we’re really pleased he is joining us for his next step. He is a versatile player who will be another strong option in our defensive unit, and we are convinced he will continue to develop here at Forest.
“He understands the demands of playing for a big club and arrives here keen to make an impact straight away. We look forward to welcoming him to our group.”
In further positive news, winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has penned a new three-year deal to keep him at the City Ground until 2028. His previous contract was due to expire next summer.

“This is home and I’ve enjoyed every moment,” said Hudson-Odoi. “I appreciate all the support and love I’ve been getting since day one, and coming here has helped me in every way possible. We have such an amazing group, and I can’t wait to keep going and enjoy the journey.”
Wilson said: “It has been a busy summer for all of us here at Nottingham Forest. As well as strengthening our squad, we have also been active in extending contracts of the core of the team that has put us in this exciting position as a key part of our strategy.
“We all love Callum and from the first second we met back in 2023 to discuss him joining the club it has been a pleasure to work with him. Everyone knows how important he has been on the pitch, but he also plays a big role off it. He is popular amongst all of our players and staff, and we’re delighted he has committed to the club signing this new deal. We are sure there’s more great moments to come from Callum."
Meanwhile, attacker Emmanuel Dennis has left the club. His contract has been terminated by mutual consent.
