Manchester United are expected to sign goalkeeper Abdulla Al-Hammadi on a free transfer.
The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this month that Al-Hammadi was undergoing a trial.
Al-Hammadi has impressed staff and is expected to complete a move to United, subject to registration. The goalkeeper is a free agent, meaning United do not have to complete the deal before the transfer deadline.
Al-Hammadi was on trial with Everton in March and he kept a clean sheet for the Toffees' U21s against Bolton Wanderers B in a test game at the newly-built Hill Dickinson Stadium.
That meant Al-Hammadi became the first goalkeeper to keep out the opposition at Everton's new stadium. He shared photos of himself in action at the 52,888-capacity arena with the caption: “Grateful for every opportunity.”
Al-Hammadi previously played for United Arab Emirates Pro League side Al Wasl. The young shot-stopper has captained UAE Under-18s, but he explored opportunities in Britain this year.
The 20-year-old would be an academy signing and his arrival will not impact plans to sign a first-team goalkeeper.
