Former Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof is expected to join Aston Villa and he will be having a medical soon, according to The Times journalist Charlotte Duncker. Villa manager Unai Emery wants to bolster his defensive options at the Villa Park club, and the Swede has emerged as a target. Lindelof is a free agent after leaving Man United in the summer at the end of his contract, and he brings much-needed experience and Premier League quality to the table for the Villans .

Villa are in advanced talks to sign the 30-year-old, according to The Athletic. He made 25 appearances across all competitions last term and will be providing quality squad depth for the Midlands club at the back. Emery wants to win the Europa League with Villa having done it at his previous clubs, but the Spaniard needs to strengthen at the back to boost his chances of competing strongly in Europe and domestically.
