Villa are in advanced talks to sign the 30-year-old, according to The Athletic. He made 25 appearances across all competitions last term and will be providing quality squad depth for the Midlands club at the back. Emery wants to win the Europa League with Villa having done it at his previous clubs, but the Spaniard needs to strengthen at the back to boost his chances of competing strongly in Europe and domestically.
