Bruno Fernandes has sent a message to Bryan Mbeumo after the new Manchester United signing netted his first Premier League goal for the Reds.

Mbeumo arrived at Old Trafford from Brentford this summer for £65million, plus £6m in add-ons. The forward, who bagged 20 goals in the Premier League last season, opened his account for United during last week's Carabao Cup penalty shootout defeat to Grimsby Town and netted again in Saturday's dramatic 3-2 win over Burnley.

The Cameroon international found the back of the net with a straightforward finish to put United ahead 2-1 in the second half, scoring almost instantly after Lyle Foster had levelled the score for Burnley at the Stretford End.

And Fernandes has sent Mbeumo a message on social media platform Instagram. The Reds captain simply put a red love heart emoji alongside a picture of the pair celebrating.

"I feel very good, obviously. I think today was really important that we could win," Mbeumo told MUTV post-match.

"I'm really happy to score my first goal here. We had a lot of chances in the first half, but yeah, I think we kept going in the game and we got our reward at the end.

"It was really important to give us confidence and helps me prepare for the national team."

Speaking to the BBC, Mbeumo was asked about getting the win for Ruben Amorim and responded: "We are all a team, it is not only one person. We all worked very hard for the win today."

During his post-match press conference, Amorim praised Mbeumo's contribution after missing a penalty against Grimsby. "It was impressive, the way he (Mbeumo) stretched the team, the quality he has in the first touch," Amorim said.

"You can feel that we are a different team, because when we win the ball, we have one guy stretching the team. Last season we struggled a little bit with that.

"And then you can see the first minutes of the game. You can understand, you can compare this to Wednesday, and you can feel it. It's not about playing well.

"The sound of the fans when we are pressing and winning balls and corners, and you sprint to get a corner, you sprint to get a throw in, it's nothing to do with the tactical and technical aspects.

"So today, I just need to watch sometimes the first minutes to understand the mindset of the team."
