Lisandro Martinez has previously hailed a player who could now very well be joining Manchester United before the transfer deadline.
Manchester United, all things considered, can be happy with their transfer window this summer. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo look like sensational signings, while Benjamin Sesko still has the potential to be a world-beater.
Alas, despite a somewhat ludicrous spend, United don’t look like the finished article. Two problematic positions appear to be the number six role, and, of course, the goalkeeper.
The latter could be solved by deadline day.

Manchester United rumoured to sign Emi Martinez
The latest goalkeeper rumoured to be joining United is Emi Martinez, the Aston Villa shot-stopper. According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have made a new approach for Martinez.
He states that talks remain ongoing for Senne Lammens, but United want to be ready if the deal collapses with less than 48 hours to go in the transfer window.

Martinez has been linked to United all summer, but a move never materialised. Now, in the dying embers of the window and with the need for a goalkeeper prominent, can something finally happen?
Lisandro Martinez knows how good Emi Martinez is
One player who knows the immediate quality of the goalkeeper is Lisandro Martinez. The pair have played together many times for Argentina, including in the infamous World Cup-winning squad.
Argentina’s remarkable defensive displays throughout that tournament were testament to both Martinez’s abilities, but the Villa keeper was in particular inspired.
So much so, after one of the knockout games, the Manchester United star lauded him as an “animal” on social media.
A move for Martinez to United does make complete sense, but whether it comes to fruition before Monday’s deadline remains to be seen. Keep a close eye on this one.
