Man Utd have now'agreed personal terms'with£40m star - Journalist

Manchester United could do late business with Aston Villa before the transfer window closes.

The Red Devils are likely to sign a new goalkeeper before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens is the primary target, but there has been no agreement thus far.

Villa star Emiliano Martinez is the back-up option, and Fabrizio Romano reports that the Red Devils have now ‘agreed personal terms’ with the Argentina international ahead of a potential transfer.

The club have also approached the Villans. Talks are well underway to sign the 32-year-old.

Martinez emerges as a concrete option for United

Lammens has been identified as a player with huge potential. He had a fascinating breakthrough campaign with Antwerp last season, making 44 appearances across all competitions.

The 23-year-old made 4.2 saves per outing with a success rate of 77 percent. He also completed 25 passes per outing, with an accuracy of 71 percent. He delivered seven long balls per game.

Lammens also kept out four penalties out of eight conceded. United are pushing to land his signature, but negotiations are still ongoing with Antwerp as well as the Belgian star.

As things stand, the former Club Brugge man has not accepted personal terms, and this could be a reason why United have shifted their focus to landing Martinez from Villa instead.

Still, a deal won’t be straightforward. Villa turned down a straight loan proposal from United earlier this summer and want at least £40 million to part ways with their vice captain.

In our view, the Red Devils could explore a loan deal with an obligation to buy next summer. It could still depend on Villa accepting a lesser package of £30m for the World Cup winner.
