Nathan Patterson has been linked with a move away from Everton in the last few days.

The right-back is yet to feature for the Toffees in competitive action this term, after starting just three league games for them over the course of the 2024/25 campaign.

Patterson has been hotly tipped to leave Everton of late, with the Merseysiders believed to be looking to send the youngster out on loan in order to gain experience.

David Moyes has largely overlooked him since pre-season, and he could now be about to have a crucial say in the Scotland international’s future.

Everton to push for Nathan Patterson Sevilla loan

Patterson seems destined to leave Everton to join Sevilla on loan, with a deal understood to be agreed in principle between the two parties.

However, progress on that front appears to have stalled in recent days, with the agreement dependant on the La Liga outfit’s sale of Juanlu Sanchez.

With Monday night’s deadline rapidly approaching on the horizon, the Toffees will be hoping to find a solution for the 23-year-old sooner rather than later.

Ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that Moyes and Everton will be pushing hard for Sevilla to take the defender on loan, given their calibre as a club.

“It would certainly be beneficial for Everton to send him to La Liga and see if he could handle that,” King said.

“If he’s on loan, then he could potentially be brought back as well if needs be as well.

“It doesn’t look as though he’s been at the top of Moyes’ list on the selection front, so a loan move would certainly help.

“It would give Everton the chance to take a look at him in a league which is a very good standard.”

Nathan Patterson shouldn’t leave without a replacement

Everton could target a move for a new right-back in the final stages of the window, and this pursuit could potentially play a crucial role in Patterson’s future.

The youngster may have fallen out of favour at the moment, but the Merseysiders are badly lacking depth in their backline, which makes it a virtual certainty that he will need to be upon at some stage in the near future.

Jake O’Brien has filled in on the right of late, but that then leaves the heart of the backline stretched in terms of bodies.

With that in mind, it hardly seems sensible to loan out a young player who has a bright future ahead of him, unless a capable replacement is in the pipeline.

The move to Sevilla may suit Patterson well, but it cannot be allowed to go through unless Everton find another option themselves.
