Report: Preston North End face agonising wait for Everton star that has 'hugely impressed' David Moyes

Preston North End are one of the many clubs who will be working right up until the end of deadline day to get their business done.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side have started off the Championship season relatively well but are still not fully satisfied with their squad.

One player has been on their radar for some time, but they have competition from a number of divisional rivals, as they wait to see if they have won the race for the Everton star.

Everton set to make decision on Harrison Armstrong future

Harrison Armstrong excelled on loan at Derby County last season and is wanted by a number of clubs.

Wrexham and Blackburn Rovers are also competing with Derby and Preston to bring him in on a loan deal, but there is a catch.

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Everton still aren’t entirely sure about sending the midfielder out on loan, with David Moyes a huge fan of the 18-year-old.

Armstrong scored and provided an assist for the Toffees in their Carabao Cup win against Mansfield Town and Moyes has debated on the idea of keeping him around the first-team squad or loaning him out until the end of December.

Preston have one key advantage in Harrison Armstrong pursuit

Everton already know that Armstrong will slot in perfectly at Derby, but where Preston might have an advantage this time around is their relationship with Moyes.

After finishing his playing career at Preston, making over 100 appearances, Moyes then became the manager at Deepdale and was in the dugout for four seasons before going on to join Everton.

A well-respected figure in Lancashire, and someone who knows Preston well, he may consider it to be the perfect place for Armstrong to continue his development.
