Ángel Pérez reports that London City Lionesses are ready to trigger the €500,000 release clause of Lucía Corrales. Initially, both the player and Barça intended for her to stay at the club. Corrales turned down multiple offers from major clubs to pursue her dream with FC Barcelona. According to [reports](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20250831/1002523455/london-city-pagara-manana-clausula-rescision-lucia-corrales.html), she had reached an agreement to renew her contract, but Barça pulled out at the last-minute citing financial reasons. London City Lionesses are now prepared to activate her release clause for the midfielder.
It would not be the first time a Barcelona player has joined the [WSL](https://womenfootball.blog/womens-super-league-table-standings/) newcomers. Earlier this summer, Jana Fernández made the same move after her €200,000 clause was paid. Barcelona have until September 19 to find a replacement, but the club appear content to promote younger academy players into the senior squad rather than make a signing.
London City Lionesses also announced the loan signing of Wassa Sangaré ahead of the 2025/26 season. The 19-year-old defender joins from OL Lyonnes, where she came through the Academy, and will now take the next step in her development. Sangaré lifted the 2023 UEFA Women’s U17 Championship with France before stepping up to the U19s, where she has earned over 25 caps and scored four goals.
“When London City contacted me, I didn’t hesitate to come because it is a beautiful, ambitious project. The WSL is one of the best leagues at the moment. There is a lot of fans who come to the games, and it will be exciting to play in the large stadiums, the best stadiums in the world.
“I’m excited to play with Daniëlle as she was at Lyon, and she is a good teammate! I’m happy to be here and I am excited to start!”
