Alexander Isak has not gained many plaudits for the way he is handling his potential Newcastle United exit.
Football agent Sky Andrews has ripped into Alexander Isak and his representatives for forcing a Newcastle United exit.
Former British Olympian Andrews knows a thing or two about how transfers work, having represented high-profile stars like Sol Campbell, David Ginola and Jermain Defoe. And similarly to Newcastle fans, he has been left flabbergasted by Isak’s handling of the Liverpool saga.
The Swede has downed tools all summer at St James’ Park as he pursues a dream move to Anfield. Isak released a bombshell statement earlier this month insisting promises at Newcastle had been broken - which the club strongly refuted.
Agent furious at Alexander Isak
Speaking to Sky Sports, football agent Andrews has slammed the player and his team for the way they have gone about the situation. He said: “It's absolutely ridiculous. Promises were reneged upon? We're in a multi-billion pound industry.
“Any promises have to be put in black and white in a contract. If it's not put in a contract, then it doesn't exist. Whatever promises were made, if it's not in a contract, you can't expect anyone to honour it.
“For the player to say he was made promises, that's a reflection on his representatives. He's a world-class asset. You can't blame Newcastle for giving him a six-year contract. Well played. But then when it comes down to the divorce, the divorce has to be negotiated at the same time as the marriage.
“There are too many agents out there doing the average job. I don't want to criticise this agent in particular as I'm not 100 per cent sure what's going on behind the scenes, but this situation should never arise. And by the way, after three years, it's mooted that he was supposed to get another contract. Ok, so he gets another contract after three years - that contract has got be extended.
‘Honour the contract’ - Sky Andrews
“So if he would have got this so-called contract then his contract would have had to been extended. So what are we looking at now, another six years? I just want the fans to understand because sometimes fans don't understand what's going on, especially with agents and players. If the player says a long-term contract, they have to honour the contract.”

Alexander Isak statement in full
To make matters worse, Isak’s statement failed to directly acknowledge Eddie Howe or the Newcastle supporters. He wrote on Instagram: “I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.
"The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.
"When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now - and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself."
