Everton have enjoyed a bright start to the new Premier League season by securing six points from their opening three games.

The Toffees started poorly with a dire defeat away to Leeds, but they have responded with exciting victories against Brighton and Wolves.

Jack Grealish has been the star of the show for Everton with four assists in those two victories, but the whole team looks brighter and sharper than last season.

With a brand new stadium and seemingly a new attack-minded strategy, it could prove to be an exciting season for Everton.

Tony Cascarino highlights key Everton change made by David Moyes

Everton beat Wolves 3-2 on Saturday. It was a match that could have gone either way, but the Toffees were more clinical when it came to taking their chances.

While pundits have been keen to praise Grealish as the catalyst for Everton’s improvement, Tony Cascarino was keen to heap praise on David Moyes for a notable shift in Everton’s style of play.

Speaking on his TalkSPORT weekend show, he said: “I credit a lot on David Moyes on this because when he took the Everton job, he quite clearly said, ‘I don’t want a relegation fight.’

“There’s one thing saying it, there’s another thing doing something about it. So what did he do? He brought in Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, who’s a technically gifted player. He brings in Jack [Grealish].

“There were goals scored yesterday, and we were watching it…how many bodies get in the 18-yard box for Everton?

“When he said ‘I don’t want to be fighting relegation’, he was obviously of the mindset that I need to introduce technical players to add to what I’ve got and difference makers.”

David Moyes has proven that his ‘boring’ reputation is inaccurate

Moyes did a fantastic job in his first spell at Everton, and it’s going well in his second stint as well.

The veteran manager seems to have picked up a reputation for playing ‘boring’ football, perhaps from his time at West Ham, where the fans wanted to see more free-flowing football.

However, he is proving that label to be inaccurate at Everton.

When given the right tools, he can build a team that gets the fans out of their seats, and he’s showing that at Everton this season.

It’s not just the signing of Grealish either. Dewsbury-Hall has proven to an astute purchase too. He scored the winning goal at Molineux and kept Everton ticking over nicely throughout the game.

With that said, that might be it for attacking players signed by Moyes this summer. He’s believed to be hunting for more defensive-minded players in the final days of the transfer window, as Everton are suffering from somewhat of an injury crisis at the back.
