Second-half goals see City beaten at Brighton

We took the lead through Erling Haaland’s 88th goal in the English top-flight in just 100 appearances in the 34th minute and enjoyed much of the play during the first period.

Brighton got back into the game after the break with a James Milner penalty before Brajan Gruda scored a late winner for the hosts.

Rodri calls for clear minds after Brighton loss

Guardiola says we lost our way after the Seagulls’ equaliser.

“We forgot to play [after the penalty]. We decided to play direct, fine, but you have to be ready – be there,” he stated in his post-match press conference.

“We were not ready to win the second [balls] when they happened. The momentum always happens in the Premier League, a goal can do that, but we forgot to play.

“We played brilliantly for the first hour. We created a lot against a tough opponent.

“But after the goal, it was like Spurs – we play really good in the beginning, we concede a goal and then we are a little bit more unstable.

“We forget to continue playing. You can never stop to play.”
