Leicester City ‘Want to Sign’ Crystal Palace Winger Once Described As ‘A Joy To Watch’

For much of Leicester City’s summer transfer window, there has been a focus on selling players, as opposed to strengthening their squad. This has led to major changes as academy graduates like Louis Page and Jeremy Monga have become prominent players within the squad. In addition, City are yet to have signed any outfield players, so with the deadline just days away, could Jesurun Rak Sakyi arrive in Leicester?

Jesurun Rak Sakyi: On The Move?

As reported by Rob Dorsett, City “want to sign” Jesurun Rak Sakyi. The Crystal Palace winger most recently featured for Sheffield United during the 24/25 season, as he helped the Blades to a 3rd placed finish. He managed seven goals and two assists under Chris Wilder before returning to Palace for this season.

In addition to his time in the Championship, Rak Sakyi also spent time in League One with Charlton Athletic. 24 goal contributions came that season, as manager Dean Holden described him as “a joy to watch”.

The only issue the Foxes face is that Oliver Glasner’s side are reluctant to offload the winger without identifying a replacement. Despite not being a starting option, he has featured on the bench in the club’s games versus Fredrikstad and Chelsea.

How Does This Affect Leicester City?

With just a couple of days left of the transfer window, signing new players has to be a priority. The Foxes’ sole arrival this summer has been second-choice keeper Asmir Begovic, who joined due to Danny Ward, Daniel Iversen and Mads Hermansen’s departures. Despite the lack of additions, the club continues to sell as Bilal El Khannouss is on the verge of moving to Stuttgart.

Therefore, adding Rak Sakyi, a winger with EFL experience and the quality to help sides to the play-offs, would be positive. With winger Kasey McAteer leaving, Rak Sakyi would be an improvement and could play a more prominent role throughout the season.

However, is signing a winger a priority? Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi remain the first-choice options on either side and are capable of tallying over 19 goal contributions. In addition to this, 16-year-old Jeremy Monga has had a bright start to the season with one goal and one assist. Even outside of these names, Bobby Decordova Reid, Jordan Ayew, and Silko Thomas all play out wide. Therefore, while Rak Sakyi would strengthen the side, is the move necessary?
