Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher is “attracting interest” from Manchester United, who may make a move for the England international, according to CaughtOffside.
In Ruben Amorim’s first summer transfer window as manager of Man United, the club have completely revamped their attack, signing Bryan Mbuemo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha from Brentford, RB Leipzig and Wolves respectively in big-money deals. The Red Devils have also recruited young left-back Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno in Paraguay.
Man United’s recent 3-2 win over Burnley felt like a necessity for Amorim, who has been under immense pressure since overseeing a shocking loss to Grimsby Town on penalties in the FA Cup, having recorded one point from an available six in the Premier League prior to that game. Going into the international break with a win could prove crucial for Man United going forward this season.
With time remaining before the window slams shut on the 1st September, the Red Devils are interested in making further additions. Having strengthened their attack, Man United are looking to sign Emi Martinez from Aston Villa as they seek more goalkeeping options in their squad to compete with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.
Man United also have an eye on options for their midfield, and recent reports have suggested that Amorim’s side could make a late push for this former Premier League star.

As per CaughtOffside, Conor Gallagher is a player that Man United are keeping close tabs on ahead of the deadline. The ex-Chelsea man joined Atletico Madrid last summer, enjoying a good start to life in the Spanish capital. Gallagher lost his starting place under Simeone as the season went on, however, and rumours about his future have circulated ahead of the deadline.
Be it during his time at Stamford Bridge or during his productive loan spell with Crystal Palace, Gallagher is no stranger to performing well in the Premier League. Still only 25 years old, the England international would reportedly cost Man United £45 million, though the club’s coffers are well-filled after Alejandro Garnacho completed a move to Chelsea.
Gallagher, who earns £200,000 per week, would be a brilliant profile for Amorim’s midfield, a player who could cover far more ground than the manager’s current options. Whether a deal is agreed remains to be seen, but Gallagher could prove to be a strong addition for the Red Devils should they push ahead for his signature, as they aim to improve on such a poor 2024/25 campaign.
