Alejandro Garnacho reveals Chelsea player was messaging him all summer urging him to leave Man Utd

Alejandro Garnacho’s Manchester United career has ended unexpectedly, with a transfer to Chelsea.

With the winger’s breakout talent and electrifying qualities, Manchester United fans feared that one day Alejandro Garnacho might follow Cristiano Ronaldo’s career path to Real Madrid.

It was not anticipated that just over a year since leading United to 2024 FA Cup Final success, he would be sold to Chelsea for just £40 million.

Garnacho’s fall from grace follows a managerial change at Old Trafford, and a challenge that the player did not respond well to.

Ruben Amorim’s appointment raised new questions for Garnacho, and maturity concerns were highlighted. His decision to criticise the head coach after the Europa League Final proved to be the last straw.

Alejandro Garnacho revealed pre-Chelsea talks

Alejandro Garnacho had his heart set on a move to Chelsea, seeking to stay in the Premier League, possibly with a point to prove to Ruben Amorim and Manchester United. He even turned down interest from Bayern Munich.

Garnacho has now been unveiled as a Chelsea player and has broken his silence on his transfer.

The now former Manchester United forward says that Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez had been in regular contact with him all summer, pushing the move. Garnacho knows Fernandez from the Argentina international setup.

Garnacho explained via Chelsea media: “I spoke to Enzo during the summer because he had been asking a lot of times, ‘When are you coming, when are you coming?’

“I kept saying that he had to be patient, and we would play together. He texted me when I joined to say congratulations, and I can’t wait to see him and play together.

“I had to be patient too, but now I can’t wait to get started.”

Garnacho agent’s Chelsea connection

Alejandro Garnacho has two representatives, Carlos Cambeiro and Quique De Lucas. One has a strong Chelsea connection.

De Lucas played for Chelsea in the 2002/03 season, in between spells at Espanyol and Alaves.

Garnacho now gets a rest to recoup and get acclimatised, after he was omitted from the recent Argentina international squad.

There is date to look out for in late September too, when Manchester United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on the 20th.
