The Slovenian national team is now three games into EuroBasket 2025. While they dropped their first two matchups to Poland and France, Luka Doncic has remained a dominant force, powering Slovenia to its first victory on Sunday against Belgium.

Coming off a stellar outing against France where he tallied 39 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds in just 35 minutes, Doncic somehow managed to top himself with a historic performance against Belgium.

In Slovenia’s 86-69 win, Doncic became just the fourth player in recorded EuroBasket history—and only the third this century—to record a triple-double. He finished with 26 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds, and three steals while shooting 9-for-23 from the field.

Luka Doncic has put together a monstrous summer—from dominating EuroBasket, including exhibition matchups, to signing a three-year max extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, all while getting himself into the best shape of his young career, a priority since the Lakers’ season ended several months ago.

While Doncic has been one of the NBA’s premier players since entering the league in 2018, much of the criticism around him has centered on whether he can maintain peak conditioning across an 82-game season and withstand the physical demands of postseason basketball, where defensive intensity skyrockets.

Despite already proving himself—leading the Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals and making multiple trips to the Western Conference Finals—Doncic has made it clear this offseason that he doesn’t pay much attention to outside noise.

“I mean honestly I tried to not read much. I think I was still a pretty good basketball player back then, no matter what people say,” Doncic said during an appearance on The Today Show. “I think it was a next step in my career. At the end, I’m still 26 and I got a long way to go.”

Doncic and Slovenia still have upcoming matchups against Iceland and Israel over the next week, giving them a prime opportunity to add two more wins before potentially advancing to the knockout stage.
