Wolves trio on the move: Reynolds and Carson loaned, Lyne to Man United

LATEST TRANSFER NEWS FOR WOLVES ACADEMY

A trio of Wolves players have been on the move recently including two loanees heading out to gain non-league experience and a highly rated teenager who heads north.

Winger Fabian Reynolds broke into the U21 side in an impact substitute role towards the end of last season, popping up with his most memorable goal to secure a 3-3 draw against Dinamo Zagreb in last year’s Premier League International Cup. Now he heads to Redditch United in the Southern League Premier Central division. ‘The Reds’ finished 18th of 22 last season and will hope the acquisition of the 19-year-old will boost their efforts to climb the table this time around. Reynolds currently has six Jamaica U20 caps to his name, including a goal against Bermuda in CONCACAF U20 Championship qualifying back in February last year. He has been with Wolves since 2021 when he was signed from AFC Kingston, and will now have until at least January in a senior environment.

Hayden Carson gained his first senior experience last season, spending the second half of 2024/25 with Darlaston Town (1874) under Dean Gill, alongside former Wolves youngster Stan Amos. The centre-back now heads out for a second loan spell, this time with Vanarama South side Chester for the season. He will link up with goalkeeper Lewys Benjamin, who is also on loan at the Deva Stadium from Wolves, and former Wolves academy player turned Chester captain Declan Weeks. The son of England international Scott Carson skips a step of the non-league pyramid with this latest move and it will be a huge opportunity for the 19-year-old to show his ability at a competitive senior level. Chester made the play-offs last season but suffered heartbreak at the hands of Kidderminster Harriers. James Storer was in goal for Chester that day. A promotion medal may very well be in Carson’s future if the left-footed defender can aid his new side in going a step further than last time.

Finally, a permanent departure from Compton as 15-year-old forward Ben Lyne completes a move to Manchester United. Lyne follows Matheus Cunha as the second person to swap Old Gold for red this window, joining the academy ahead of the new campaign. Eligible for the Republic of Ireland, Lyne was born in the Cayman Islands where he was scouted in a tournament playing for the Total Soccer Cayman academy. In May he scored both goals for St. Flannan’s College in a 2-1 win over Scoil Dara to lift the FAI Schools First Year Boys National Cup. Ben will now aim to impress U18 manager Darren Fletcher and make his debut at that age group for the Red Devils.

Best of luck to Fabian, Hayden, and Ben for the season ahead.
