Milwaukee Bucks Add Final Nail in the Coffin for Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Rumors with…

For months, the Milwaukee Bucks have had to put up with the annual rumors that their star player, two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, could be discontent with the organization and ask for a trade. And, for months, the Bucks have silently laughed at the outside noise while building a team around the nine-time All-Star that, they believe, will help them contend in what is projected a weak Eastern Conference.

Despite the addition of center Myles Turner, as well as the retaining of multiple players who shot 40% or better from three last season, many NBA media personalities, most notably Shams Charania of ESPN, have been trying to push the narrative that Giannis is not happy in Milwaukee and could request a trade at any moment.

Of course, they ignore the multiple times this offseason alone Giannis has said he is staying Milwaukee (and wants to spend his entire career with the Bucks).

Early Sunday afternoon, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, the elder brother of Giannis, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he had re-signed with the Bucks after a year away from the NBA:

Antetokounmpo had missed the whole 2024-25 NBA season due to having to recover from a torn Achilles. He went unsigned all throughout the offseason thus far, but was generating interest from the New York Knicks, the team that had originally drafted him into the NBA in 2015.

In five seasons with Milwaukee, Thanasis has averages of 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Typically an end of the bench player, he is still a huge favorite among Bucks fans because of the energy he has while cheering on his teammates.

Signing Thanasis will undoubtedly mean Milwaukee needs to make a corresponding cut to their 15-man roster, but no such move has been announced yet. However, keeping the elder Antetokounmpo brother in Milwaukee is a clear indication that Giannis intends to stay and the organization is doing everything they can to keep him as happy as possible.
