Emi Martinez signed, midfielder arrives: Improved Man Utd XI for Ruben Amorim if deadline day…

Manchester United have started the 2025-26 campaign in the same manner they finished the 2024-25 season. The Red Devils endured a wretched time of it in the last 12 months and improvement is still needed as the first international break hits.

A late Bruno Fernandes penalty secured all three points against Burnley on Saturday and eased the pressure on manager Ruben Amorim and also somewhat raised the mood around Old Trafford heading into the international break.

Their next game is against Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s side below United in the table after losing to Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton and Hove Albion in their last two games.

If a deal can be done for those two players, here’s how Amorim’s United XI could look for the rest of the campaign...

Man United have reportedly agreed personal terms with the World Cup winner and approached Aston Villa to get a deal done. Martinez was completely left out of Villa's squad for their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday evening.
