Forza Viola! Lamptey's welcome to Florence as expectation grows over move

Tariq Lamptey was welcomed to Florence by a call of “Forza Viola” as [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/)’s Serie A connection looked set to grow.

The right-sided full-back or wing-back is expected to sign for Fiorentina ahead of Monday evening’s transfer deadline.

Meanwhile Jeremy Sarmiento looks set to sign a loan deal with Cremonese.

Evan Ferguson is already on loan at Roma and had a big hand in the goal which earned them a 1-0 in at Pisa on Saturday.

Pervis Estupinan has followed Billy Gilmour in securing a permanent move to Italy.

Gilmour helped Napoli win Serie A after his deadline-beating move this time last year and Estupinan joined Milan this summer.

Lamptey was shown arriving at the Fanfani Institute in Florence, which provides Fiorentina with medical and diagnostic services.

In a brief video showing him leaving a vehicle, Lamptey is seen wearing a Fiorentina gym top.

A voice from off camera calls out “Welcome” and adds: “Forza Viola. Forza Fiorentina.”

He has been a popular contributor on the right for the Seagulls, especially in a wing-back role, and was used to good effect in the 2-0 win at Wolves towards the end of last season when he nullified Rayan Ait-Nouri.

That turned out to the be the last of 122 appearances for the Seagulls, of which 57 were starts in the Premier League.

Lamptey first emerged in the behind-closed-doors era, making an impressive debut at Leicester City in the first away game after the 15-week halt to the 2019-20 season caused by Covid.

Fiorentina have been playing with three at the back and wing-backs under their former Milan head coach Stefano Piolo.

Lamptey is expected in Italy to command an initial fee of about £5.2 million plus potential add-ons.
