Jamie Carragher was impressed with Liverpool players as they defeated Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
Liverpool showed dominance at Anfield against the Gunners, in what probably should have been more than a 1-0 win decided by a Dominik Szoboszlai wonder goal.
Yet Liverpool could have given so much more. Florian Wirtz still isn’t at his best, and Hugo Ekitike was quiet – but all in all, a solid outing.

The word ‘solid’ could certainly describe the Liverpool back four, which Jamie Carragher was also a fan of.
Jamie Carragher calls Liverpool’s back four “outstanding”
Taking to X after the game, the Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender spoke about how impressed he was with Arne Slot’s backline.
Carragher wrote: “Nine points from nine is a great return for LFC after playing two of their toughest games, which were both drawn last season. The back four was outstanding.”
Carragher then also singled out Virgil van Dijk, where he put a ‘mind blown’ emoji next to his initials.
Van Dijk was at his usual dominant best against Arsenal, making Viktor Gyökeres look absent at Anfield on Sunday evening. Kerkez also deserves credit for his performance.
But the Dutchman wasn’t the only standout defender on the pitch.
Carragher also encourages Dominik Szoboszlai position change
Not a defender by trade, Szoboszlai stole the show against the Gunners in his new Trent Alexander-Arnold-esque position, which Carragher says looks good on him.
He continues: “Dom has found his position! Full back suits him better than the attacking midfield role.”
Slot definitely has to think about keeping the Hungarian in this role. With Jeremie Frimpong injured, initially it looked like just making ends meet – but he’s been stunning at full-back.
They have an international break to ponder, but it’s a nice problem to have when your attacking midfielder is equally as defensively astute.
