An update on the ongoing saga linking Barcelona star Fermín López with a move to England with Chelsea has on Sunday been forthcoming online.

This comes amid confirmation that, despite the chatter surrounding the proposed move having gone somewhat quiet over the last 24 hours, Chelsea have not yet given up.

It is of course football’s worst-kept secret at this point that the brass at Stamford Bridge have set their sights on Fermín’s signature.

Amid efforts to add to Enzo Maresca’s midfield options before the transfer deadline, the 22-year-old has been identified as the ideal profile.

As much culminated in a €40 million offer being tabled this weekend, albeit with Barcelona having not hesitated in knocking the proposal back.

If the latest word stemming from Spain on Sunday is anything to go by, though, then Chelsea do not appear to have been deterred.

As per a report from COPE:

‘Chelsea are continuing to push hard (to sign Fermín) today.’
