"Then, honestly, we had to survive for 15, 20 minutes after half-time. Villa made pressure, but this is when you play at Villa Park, there will always be 15 or 20 minutes where you have to suffer, and there we defended very well.
"We had Dean Henderson in two situations who helped us, and after the second goal, we got the confidence back, and we played fantastic. So really big credit to the players."
Although Palace had already achieved two big goals in the first month of the new season, Glasner said going into the international break with three points secured was a big step in the right direction.
"I told the players before this game," he added. "That I think we had a good start to the season, achieving the first big goals, winning the Community Shield and qualifying for the group stage \[of the Conference League\]
"But to make it a great start we needed to win at Villa Park, and this is what the players did. So I think now we've had a great start, six games played unbeaten, good performances, and four clean sheets – we are on track."
