Bruno Fernandes’ late penalty earned Manchester United a vital win over Burnley on Saturday.
The Red Devils had taken the lead courtesy of an own goal at Old Trafford, but Lyle Foster drew the Clarets level.
Bryan Mbeumo – who missed a penalty as United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town in a shootout on Wednesday – then netted his first Premier League goal for the club, but the visitors were soon level once again through Jaidon Anthony.
It looked like Ruben Amorim’s side were going to have to settle for a point against relegation candidates Burnley, until they were awarded a penalty in added time after Amad Diallo’s shirt was pulled as he ran into the penalty area.
Fernandes converted the spot-kick, earning United their first victory of the season and moving them up to ninth in the top flight standings.
Off the pitch, it appears that United’s woes are continuing with the end of the transfer window fast approaching.
Football Insider claims that the Manchester club are struggling to offload Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund and Tyrell Malacia prior to Monday’s 7pm deadline.

All three players have been heavily linked with moves away from Old Trafford for much of the summer, but the report claims that United are facing a race against time to complete deals for all three to depart.
Hojlund, 22, has failed to recreate his best form since joining United from Atalanta in a deal worth around £64 million back in 2023.
The Dane has netted just 26 times in 95 games across all competitions, and it is claimed that United are keen to offload the player prior to the close of the window.
Sancho and Malacia, meanwhile, wee part of United’s ‘bomb squad’ that the club have been trying to offload all summer.
While the likes of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have completed moves away from Old Trafford, Sancho and Malacia remain, and the report claims that other clubs are aware of United’s ‘desperate’ situation.
