Liverpool are finally set to smash the Premier League transfer record, with a bombshell move for Newcastle United star Alexander Isak - with GIVEMESPORT transfer correspondent Fabrizio Romano giving a move for the Swedish star his catchphrase 'Here We Go!' treatment over a transfer saga that has dominated headlines throughout the summer.
The Reds originally had a £110million bid rejected for Isak at the start of the month, with the player downing tools and refusing to be a part of their pre-season tour of Asia, starting a drawn-out saga in a stand-off with the north-east outfit. From there, it appeared as though a deal had stagnated, especially with the Magpies finding it difficult to bring in a replacement for the former Real Sociedad star.

However, the Magpies got a deal over the line for Stuttgart's rising star Nick Woltemade last week in a £69million move, somewhat releasing the shackles on Isak's potential move to Merseyside. And after speculation increased on Sunday evening surrounding his future in the 24 hours leading up to Deadline Day, Romano has all but confirmed the move.
The report on X (formerly Twitter) states that a move for the Swede has been agreed for a £130million transfer fee, and the Magpies star is now on his way for medical tests to join the Anfield club, having agreed personal terms on a 'long-term contract' a matter of months ago.
The Reds have already smashed the record once this window, spending £116million on Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen at the start of the summer, and they have now done so again - also breaking the record fee between two Premier League teams, which was Moises Caicedo's move from Brighton to Chelsea for £115million back in 2023.
Isak's future on Tyneside looked to be in doubt when he released a statement two weeks ago, claiming that 'promises had been broken' by higher-ups at St. James' Park - and although he's had to bide his time, a move to Anfield is in touching distance.
He'll now link up with Arne Slot in a bid to help the Reds retain the Premier League title, after they won the top-flight by 10 points last season - and they're in a great position to do so, having won all three of their opening games, including Sunday's 1-0 win over title rivals Arsenal.
