Iraola impressed with performances from Cherries defence - but still work to do

Each of the three league games so far this term have seen Adrien Truffert, Bafode Diakite, Marcos Senesi and Adam Smith form the back four, with Djordje Petrovic in goal.

Three of those five are summer signings for the Cherries, after the departures of Kepa, Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi and Milos Kerkez.

Match report:

But at Spurs, the Cherries were excellent defensively as they won 1-0, a repeat of the result from the week previous against Wolves, where again, they restricted their opponents to few chances.

Asked how impressed he is at how quickly the new defence appear to have gelled, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “Yes, I think we had these new players, new signings with Bafo, with Petro, with Adrien also that has been for me very good today against Kudus, that is always a big, big threat and it's good.

“I think there is a big improvement but still work to do obviously especially with the new players, also with the offensive new players but while you are getting the results it's always easier to correct.”
