"I can guarantee" - Fabrizio Romano says Man Utd spent whole of Sunday in talks to sign…

Manchester United have spent all of Sunday negotiating with Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez’s arrival, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Old Trafford side are aiming to sign the 32-year-old goalkeeper ahead of the transfer deadline on Monday, with an agreement over personal terms already in place.

Martinez was absent from Aston Villa’s 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday and has communicated his desire to leave despite having almost four years remaining on his £150,000-a-week contract.

Romano claims clubs are now in talks over a potential swap deal, which could see Jadon Sancho head to Villa Park on deadline day – the England international is a ‘crucial’ factor in negotiations.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Man United are continuing to push for Martinez’s arrival on deadline day, with negotiations between the clubs ongoing.

“Dibu Martinez has agreed personal terms. Didn't play tonight, and he really wants to leave Aston Villa and to go to Manchester United.

“So we will be following that story. But trust me, the deal is on. Remember Sancho. Don't forget Jadon Sancho, because Aston Villa and Manchester United are talking about Jadon Sancho as a potential part of this deal for Dibu Martinez.

“So Jaden Sancho could be a crucial factor in understanding if the deal is going to happen or is not going to happen for Dibu Martinez. This is a crucial step.

“But I can guarantee that today, Sunday, Manchester United and Aston Villa have spent the whole day negotiating for Emiliano Martinez.”

United targeted a move for Martinez in July but saw their loan proposal rejected by Villa, who would likely need to sign a replacement before allowing him to leave this late in the window.

Unai Emery’s side are believed to be interested in Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, who is also considered an alternative to Martinez for the Red Devils.

Martinez has made 213 appearances for Villa since joining from Arsenal in 2020, keeping 70 clean sheets and conceding 257 goals.
