Opinion: Five deadline day moves that could still happen at Nottingham Forest including Dilane…

Nottingham Forest have had a remarkably busy transfer window, but the business may not yet be complete for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side on deadline day.

The incomings started with Igor Jesus’ arrival at Forest, who was quickly followed by Jair Cunha making the same switch from Botafogo.

After the high-profile departure of Anthony Elanga, Forest signed Dan Ndoye in a club-record deal, before topping it with the £37m move for Omari Hutchinson.

Perhaps the most impressive deal was Douglas Luiz’s arrival at Forest, but with deadline day upon us, players could still arrive and leave the City Ground.

Four potential deadline day deals at Nottingham Forest

Cuiabano will likely sign for Nottingham Forest

With the attacking side almost wrapped up, Forest have wanted to sign a left-back to provide cover for starter Neco Williams.

Cuiabano was linked with Forest back in June to go alongside Jesus and Cunha, but the deal never went through. The Reds never found another option for the position, though, and have returned for the Brazilian.

Forest have now agreed a deal to sign Cuiabano from Botafogo, who will hopefully add the final piece of the defensive jigsaw for Espírito Santo.

Taiwo Awoniyi in action for Nottingham Forest against Estoril

Taiwo Awoniyi’s Nottingham Forest career could be over

Chris Wood has started the season as the Reds’ first-choice striker, but with Jesus arriving and Forest signing Arnaud Kalimuendo, the future of Taiwo Awoniyi has looked uncertain.

MORE FOREST STORIES

Awoniyi was absent from the Forest squad against Crystal Palace and West Ham, fuelling speculation about his future, although there have been few rumours about potential moves.

One report suggested that Werder Bremen could take Awoniyi on loan which sounds logical, so it remains to be seen whether any club makes a concrete move for the Nigerian.

Jota Silva will surely exit the City Ground

Sporting have been attempting to sign Jota Silva throughout the summer and after he was left out of the squad against West Ham, they’ll surely be a solution to the situation.

The lack of opportunities at Forest have led to Jota being willing to reduce his wages to find a move, with Hutchinson and James McAtee ahead of the Portuguese star in the pecking order.

There had even been suggestions that Leeds United wanted to sign Jota too, so his future will certainly be one to watch before the window closes.

Dilane Bakwa remains of interest

After Forest signed Nicolo Savona and with Cuiabano ideally on the way, the final addition to Forest’s squad could well be an extra option out wide.

Strasbourg star Dilane Bakwa looks to be the priority target, with Forest having bids rejected for Bakwa already this summer.

However, the Reds don’t look to have given up as Forest are continuing to push for Bakwa to complete Espírito Santo’s attacking options.

Forest’s last bid was reportedly around £27m, so it’ll be interesting to see whether Evangelos Marinakis is willing to push further and test Strasbourg’s resolve.
