Alexander Isak is leaving Newcastle United.

It’s been a long, frustrating, and frankly sad 39 days since news broke of his desire to leave, and in the early hours of Monday morning, we finally received news of a breakthrough ahead of tonight’s 7pm deadline.

The fee differs slightly depending on who you believe, but widespread reports have confirmed that Liverpool have had a bid accepted by Newcastle over the sale of Alexander Isak.

Breaking the story first was The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, who insists that a **£130m agreement** is in place between the two clubs.

Elsewhere, however, the likes of BBC Sport and Sky Sports claim that it’s a **£125m fee**, while others suggest it’s £125m but worth £130m to Newcastle due to a ‘solidarity’ agreement.

Either way, he’s going, he’s got what he wants, it’s a new Premier League transfer record and it’s a move that’s seen us double our money for the striker three years on from his £63m arrival from Real Sociedad.

Isak will travel to Merseyside this morning to undergo a medical and complete the formalities, with the player set to sign a six-year deal at Anfield before joining the Swedish squad for international duties (nice of him to turn up).

What’s absolutely vital now is that Newcastle sign another striker. Nick Woltemade is clearly Isak’s replacement, but the German along is not enough when we are yet to replace Callum Wilson.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Alex!
