Seven Nottingham Forest transfers that could happen on deadline day

Nottingham Forest head into the final hours of the summer window having already put the basis of a strong squad in place.

The Reds have been busy in the transfer market, overseeing ins and outs. Ensuring head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has sufficient strength in depth to compete on multiple fronts this season has been the club’s aim.

Ten signings have come through the City Ground doors so far. Nicolo Savona was introduced to the crowd prior to Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to West Ham United, then John Victor was announced as the club’s latest addition a few hours after the final whistle.

Further incomings are likely to be on the cards before this evening’s cut-off. Likewise, Forest are expected to sanction some departures before the window closes. Nuno prefers to work with a relatively small group and doesn’t want players kicking their heels with little chance of game time.

Clubs have until 7pm tonight to get any remaining deals over the line. Below, we take a look at who could arrive and who could leave the Reds.

Potential incomings

Forest are expected to add left-back Cuiabano to their ranks. If all goes to plan, he will become the fourth signing from Brazilian club Botafogo this summer. Goalkeeper Victor completed the same switch last night, to follow on from Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha in making the move.

It could be the Reds also bring in a winger before the deadline. They have been looking at a number of options in recent days.

Strasbourg’s Dilane Bakwa has been on the club’s radar for a while. But having reportedly had three bids rejected, it remains to be seen whether Forest completely cut their losses and look elsewhere.

Other names have emerged as potential targets in the meantime. Sevilla’s Dodi Lukebakio and Paris Saint-Germain’s Lee Kang-In have both been mentioned as being of interest to the Reds.

Potential outgoings

Asked if he expects departures before the window closes, Nuno said on Sunday evening: "Yes, we have to do it. We want to have all the squad motivated.

"The club is trying to do that. We still have one day to go. After that, we will see the picture of our squad."

Winger Jota Silva will likely be among those to leave. Sporting Lisbon have been keen on him for some time but Paris FC reportedly joined the race for his signature ahead of deadline day.

Nuno has previously namechecked Omar Richards and Eric da Silva Moreira as two players in line to head elsewhere. Both need to play, the Portuguese said, and minutes are not guaranteed Trentside.

Forest will also look to find a move for Josh Bowler as he is not part of Nuno’s plans. Meanwhile, there has been speculation about the future of striker Taiwo Awoniyi and he was not involved against the Hammers on Sunday.
